Parsi Achaars (Sweet & Spicy Condiments)
I personally always have a jar of the uniquely-distinct homemade Parsi Gajjar Meva Nu Achaar on hand at all times. It was one of the amazing Parsi dishes, that I had to create in my own kitchen over the years of living in America. Better known as the Lagan nu Achaar, this condiment is one of the first items served at the start of every Parsi wedding feast. So when the very soul of Parsi wedding catering, Chef Tanaz Godiwalla, creates a product line and sells it in stores across America, I’m listening!
This is what we need to know:
Condiments are based on secret heirloom recipes and bring the taste of Parsi food into kitchens around the world. Branded as "A Parsi Affair," Chef Tanaz will begin with two varieties of condiments based on recipes perfected and handed down from generation to generation since 1969.
Historically, these legendary condiments could only be enjoyed by attending a Parsi event, but it was Chef Tanaz’s dream to share this piece of tradition and culture with the world. Each of these vegetarian condiments has no added preservatives and uses a variety of the finest premium ingredients such as dates, cashews, raisins, apricots, to create the only condiment of its kind, with a distinctive taste that the Parsi cuisine is so famous for.
After the incredible reception of ‘A Parsi Affair’ products in India, and the successful launch of her catering services in the UK in the summer of 2021, Chef Tanaz is now bringing her line of condiments to North America for the first time. ‘A Parsi Affair’ will be launched with two varieties of condiments. The Gajar Meva Nu Achaar and Gor Keri Meva Nu Achaar are available at select Patel supermarket locations and will be sold via Amazon early in the Summer of 2022, with more products to be added soon.
