Ginger Mango Lassi

Lassi is an Indian drink that can best be described as a precursor to the smoothies commonly found in most Western countries. Predominantly made with yogurt, it continues to be a soothing presence on warm summer days. As summer rolls in, I'm filled with memories of hot, humid days in Mumbai, when my friends and I would enjoy salted sweet lassi at the small neighborhood cafés that dotted the city's vibrant streets.

Feel free to use this recipe to create a beverage of your choice; mango is a popular summer fruit, but it's perfectly fine to add berries or simply a pinch of salt and a touch of sugar to make a salted sweet lassi! For this recipe, I’ve also brought in the special flavors of ginger and rose to create a beverage that feels more elevated than what you’d normally come across.

And bear in mind: it’s recommended not to add ice, as it can dilute the flavor. Instead, use cold ingredients and chill the lassi in the refrigerator prior to serving. Cheers!
