Vanilla Cardamon Chai Latte
It’s time to take charge of your Chai Latte! Make your own custom homemade warm and spicy brew that’s perfect for any time of year, especially during the winter months.
I’ve used my Chai Tea Blend which you can purchase within the US, but feel free to use any Masala Chai of your choice. Although my tea blend already contains cardamom, we will add an extra dab of cardamom (Elaichi) to the frothed milk, along with fragrant vanilla to create a ‘Chai Latte’ recipe easily customized to your preferences. This serving of Vanilla Cardamom Chai Latte with a global twist to it will soon become your favorite.
Chai Latte 101
Latte is a classic French beverage of espresso and steamed milk. In terms of its ingredients, the concept of a Chai Latte is actually ‘just regular Chai’. The difference between Chai and a Chai Latte is the manner in which milk gets added to each one.
In traditional Indian Chai, milk is boiled and cooked along with the tea leaves and whole spices (like in my recipe for basic masala Chai). On the other hand, for Chai Latte, milk is heated or steamed, and frothed separately, before the pre-prepared tea brew is added to it.
Also worth knowing, the word Chai is the Indian term for tea. So the often-heard term ‘Chai Tea’ just translates to ‘Tea Tea.’
